The Olsen Family is rapidly modernizing. Not only are we starting a blog, but we're adding an addition to our house too! This blog will share all the pains and joys associated with such a project. Right now we're at the very beginning. No drawings yet, but we've hired an architect and Jac's been busy shopping for new kitchen appliances. Fun! Drop in anytime to see the progress.

We just did our kitchen and what we paid for 4 appliances (cooktop/oven/micro/dishawsher) was what they quoted us for a single sub-zero. We got the top of the line GE Monogram series (good Consumer Reports Ratings) and the Kenmore Elite Dishwasher (made by Bosch but at about $600 less). Good luck.
We plan on doing a free standing range (Jenn-air), refrigerator (Jenn-air too), dishwasher (Bosch), hood (not sure), microwave/convection oven (Kitchen Aid). But this is all pre-design, wishful shopping on my part. Things will certainly change!
Get the August, 2008 Consumer's Report. Tons of info and ratings on kitchen appliances, counter tops, etc.
Congrats on starting your project and we wish you the best of luck!
You should look at the Sears elite or pro series. Also, we used an italian hood company, Faber. Great hoods and stylish.
Hi J,J, & I. I think I have the google account thing straightened out now. We're so glad you're remodeling your house, with all its pretty landscaping, rather than moving. Our appliances are: Theramador range (expensive, but I love it), a Sears knock-off of Bosch dishwasher, a whatever microwave that works just fine, and the fridge that came with the house.
Good luck and love to you all.
